I LOVE ROCK & ROLL
TV program, ALL MUSIC TV, 6 episodes, 2009
directed by Anna Bianco
"I Love Rock & Roll" is the name of a series devoted to rock music and rock stars, which I directed.
In total, there were six different episodes bringing to life the following:
The Italian rock scene
Rock cities
Metropolitan legends
Concept albums
Crossover rock, with a special focus on Depeche Mode (Dave Gahan's interview short extract)
Dream of life by S. Sebring, a documentary on Patti Smith’s life (Patti Smith's interview short extract)
The whole project was an amazing way to discover new musical territories and to meet different great musicians. I really enjoy directing music programmes and I find it extremely absorbing.
I worked with Antonio Vicaretti, the author of the show and Elena Di Ciocco, the presenter, who both gave me their vision of the program.
I realised that working with them it would be interesting to change the structure of the format by creating an individual identity for each show.
We did this by playing with how we used the narration, videoclips, movie extracts, album covers, rock iconography and interviews.
We created a specific atmosphere, style and approach for being a rock musician.
